Your Name HERE Date Benefits or Human Resources Director RE: Employee Health Plan To Whom It May Concern: As an enrollee in Company Name HERE's health plan, I would like to know why our plan excludes contraceptive supplies and devices. Since most people rely on the insurance plan that they get through work, it seems to me that the plan ought to cover prescriptions and services that are needed most. Birth control falls into that category. Enclosed is a summary of research that shows why all forms of prescription contraception are highly cost effective and actually save health care dollars in the long run. However, paying for contraception out-of-pocket, instead of through a group plan, is difficult for many working families. The result in the U.S. is a high rate of unintended pregnancy, which in turn contributes to increases in abortion, miscarriage and low birth-weight babies -- consequences that harm the physical and financial wellbeing of many families, including those that are covered by our plan. I urge management to consider these facts and change its current policy. Sincerely,
